Diamond Hotel - The Corniche

Last January 2014, kuya Ambeng (brother of Erwin) and his GF gave us Two Gift Certificates to dine here at Corniche at the Diamond Hotel. That's when we (Erwin and I) decided to use it on our anniversary. Trust me, we've been aching to use it earlier. Too excited, I know, I know.

CORNICHE

The restaurant is located at the lobby of diamond hotel. It opens from 10:30 am-2:30pm for lunch then 6:00pm-10:00pm. They served different cuisines such as Japanese, Chinese, India, Western and other cuisines. The buffet also have appetizers, pasta, bread, salad and dessert stations.

The place is cozy and romantic. A perfect place for a date. The food attendants are friendly and attentive. Oh yeah, food attendants are wearing jade or emerald colored uniform while their captain wears cream colored uniform.

JAPANESE CUISINE

My most favorite station of all!!!!! But you know what's their most delicious dish in this station? It's their salmon teriyaki. The fish is not overcooked and flavorful that made me come back for more.

PASTA STATION

I don't usually eat pasta when I dine in a buffet. So never got the chance to try not even one

CARVING STATION

PORCHETTA is a roast Pork Belly. Very flavorful and crispy.....crispy that I'm scared for my pasta. haha
Then there's baked salmon. It's quite dry. That's the challenge when you're serving baked fish in a carving station, how to avoid serving dry meat.

And placed beside the carving station is their paella and other western/spanish dishes.

ASIAN/CHINESE

If you're going to ask me what my comfort food is, it would be Chinese cuisine specially dimsum. Unfortunately, when I came to their station, it doesn't look appetizing. And the flavor, well, not that I want to compare but I enjoyed siomai of master siomai more.  Sorry, just my opinion.

INDIAN

I didn't get the chance to taste some of their Indian dishes. I'm not used to the flavors of the spices of the dishes

Placed between the Chinese and Indian Cuisine is their baked oyster and baked mussels. It's a pain that I can't eat these two. :(

APPETIZERS/SALADS

Located at the center of the restaurant is the Appetizer, bread and salad station. Few selections of green like romaine lettuce and arugula with toppings of carrots, corns and dressing like ceasar, etc. Come to think of it, I just realized that they didn't serve soup that night.

And the finale of them all.....(drumroll)...dum dum dumdum dum

DESSERTS

Usually, I get full easily at the main entrees that I seldom leave space for desserts. But now is different. They have a variety of desserts.

They have fondue that Erwin is fond of specially the gummy bear. If it's only possible to get the whole jar of the gummy bear and a large bowl of chocolate, that would be great!

It wouldn't be a five-star dessert station if you won't miniature cakes and desserts in shooters like panna cotta.

My most favorite dessert is their Ice Cream Station. They served raspberry, macha, salted caramel, vanilla, etc. Erwin tried raspberry and I took green tea ice cream. Both are delicious.

Pralines and Truffles....brings back college memories. I still remember that we competed for the best chocolate pralines. This by so far the most expensive competition that I joined in college plus it's labor intensive. You have to be precised with the temperature of melting and cooling process. And I told Erwin all about that hahaha.

Beverage

Drinks by the way is not included in the buffet. You have to order separately. They have a bar too.

Then our dinner ended up with a cup of green tea or two.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 8/10

But I really enjoyed my anniversary dinner date. Perfect place for dinner
