Hotel H2O

Planning this for oh so long and finally, the date has arrived. Spending my Valentines here in Hotel H2O with a special someone. (^_^). Opened in 2009, Hotel H2O is a 4-star hotel that is located in Manila Bay with its main attraction which opened a year earlier, the "Manila Ocean Park". But we'll focus more on the hotel. I'll make a separate entry for the Ocean Park.

Getting There

Manila Ocean Park is one of the most accessible park in the city of Manila. It's just along Roxas Boulevard behind Quirino Grandstand. If you're going to ride an LRT, just go down to the UN Avenue Station. Make a short walk to Kalaw St. Turn left then walk towards Roxas Boulevard. After crossing Roxas Boulevard, you'll find the Quirino Grandstand with a carabao statue being its landmark. Behind it is the Manila Ocean Park.

Room

There are three types of room that you can booked here in hotel depending on your preference. The rate varies too. There's Park View room where you can have a perfect view of Luneta Park. Then there's Bay View on the opposite side of Park View where you can have a wide view of the bay. Then the 3rd one is the Aqua room. It doesn't have a window but what makes it special is it's built in aquarium. And the fish that you'll see aren't ordinary fish that you can see in the petshops but they are salt-water/marine fish. Of course, I chose the latter which can accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids. It's their benchmark that other hotels all around Metro Manila doesn't have.

Every type has its own selection depending on the size of the room. There's standard, classic, supreme and club being club as the largest room. Apart from them, suites are available. There are three: Deluxe, Primiere and Executive.

Room Rate

The rooms rate is P6.148.80, quite pricey for a 4 star right!? But it's that different experience sleeping in a different ambiance that you're really paying here. That price by the way is already discounted from a 30-day early booking.

The rate is already inclusive of free parking fee, 2 complimentary breakfast, free wi-fi, free use of fitness center and others.

We didn't get the chance to roam around early. Check in time is 2:00 pm but we arrived at 4:00 pm due to some event that needs some major roads to be closed. Then we watched volleyball, DLSU vs NU that ended at almost 7:00 pm. We didn't get the chance to get some pictures of the sunset but good thing we did when we first visited Manila Ocean Park.

GUEST FACILITIES

FITNESS CENTER

One of the freebies is the free use of the fitness center. Most of the machines there though are for cardio.

ZENYU ECO SPA

They also have a spa for guest who's tired from a long day or people who just wants pure relaxation. How I really wish that this will also be included in the list of freebies. Unfortunately, it's not and it's also not cheap. I haven't tried it, but maybe next time.

HOTEL OUTLETS & RESTAURANTS

All of the prices of every outlet of the hotel is very affordable. The price ranges from P300-P500 per person.

CLUB H2O

One of the outlets of the hotel is their club lounge Club H2O. You can have your snacks and dinner here. They are open until 10 pm. Only one big table is occupied when we got there. There's also a band performing.

WHITEMOON

If you want to have a relaxing night hanging out, chill and have a drink, this outlet is the best place to stay. White Moon Bar is located on the second floor at the sea side deck. It opens from 4 pm till midnight. This is also the perfect spot where you can enjoy watching the sunset and the view of Manila Bay.

This is the Whitemoon's BAR

Erwin and I ordered Fried Squid Heads, Tequila Sunrise and Weng Weng

This is how we ended the night.

Makan Makan

The main outlet of the hotel is Makan-Makan Asian Food Village. They served different Asian cuisines, such as Singaporean, Filipino, Chinese and Thai dishes. This is where we ate our complimentary breakfast buffet.

What surprises me here is that the buffet breakfast is a free seating. It means that you have to find a seat of your own or wait for a customer to finish their meal. Bad news, the restaurant is full. Good news, one of the table is about to be vacant.

Here is the view of the restaurant from the reception area

Capacity
I just made a quick count of tables used. There are 5 tables for group of 10 & 5 tables for group of 6. Then there's 4 tables for group of 8 then 20 tables for group of 4. More or less, it has the capacity of 190-200 pax.

BUFFET

Honestly, the set up of the buffet or the food arrangement is quite confusing. For example, dimsum condiments is not placed near the chafing dishes of the dimsum. Hotdogs and Burgers were placed in the dimsum area, talking about foods being mixed up. But the food is good.

WAFFLE & EGG STATION

Here's the Soup Station. They serve congee, mami and Cream of Asparagus Soup. The dimsum condiments are also here, too.

They also serve cereals

Salad Station

Dimsum Station
You can also find the burger and hotdogs here.

Main
Here, you'll find plain rice, garlic rice, bratwurst, pork adobo, chicken pastel. etc.

DESSERT STATION

They serve fresh fruits, mini cakes and yogurts

ALA CARTE
They serve ala-carte every lunch and dinner. I have to say that their Laksa is simply the best and highly recommended. Don't you ever miss laksa out if you're going to dine in there.

OVER-ALL RATING: 9/10
