This is a way late post, but might as well post it so that everyone will know that there are activities for dogs that is actually happening. Something that we should be all aware of.
AKF- Animal Kingdom Foundation
September 29, 2013, an animal campaign called AKF was held at Quezon Memorial Circles. It's an event where different set of packs will unite for one purpose; creating awareness and support against animal cruelty. Our group Manila Pack Walk Club is very fortunate to be a part of this huge event.
MEET UPS
The start of the event is 3:00 pm so our call time in Tondo is at 1:00pm. We rented a jeep back and forth. Since the sun is at its peak, it's very worrisome for the dogs about the duration of the travel and waiting time because their health might be affected with the heat. We left at 2:00 pm, but good thing that there's no heavy traffic so we got there just in time.
We traveled in 3 different batches. The first one to arrived there was Andre and Calvin. They are the one who checked our spot/booth, updating us with the program and talks to fellow dog owners from other packs.
Second and Third batch is Raray's and The jeep
Then we rendezvous near the stage where the event will held, preparing for the Grand Parade. We also met up with other packs from other places like Navotas to as far as Bulacan and Paranaque. Just imagine you're a dog lover and you'll be in a place full of wonderful dogs. Amazing, right!? For me, it's heaven.
Quezon Memorial Circle
Dogs....Dogs everywhere! It's so fascinating for me to see different kinds of breeds of dogs in one place, which some I haven't seen before. They vaary on different shgapes and sizes!!!!
From toy dogs......
to huskies
Up to the humongous breeds like mastiff alaskan malamute, rottweiler and Great Dane
Of Course I wouldn't let them beat mine!!
The Grand Parade
We started the grand parade at 3:00 pm where every pack will walk the entire Quezon Memorial Circle (Main Road). With the police escorts around, there's assurance for our safety and security. We made a slight traffic in the road because the dog's event really caught everyone's attention. Some even made a full stop just to take pictures. Surely, they did make themselves aware of the dogs...not sure about the cause. haha
After the Parade....
There are lots of booth all around where you can get free vaccine, free anti rabies and free dog food! Plenty of freebies. That's where I took my chance to inject Airwind with Anti-rabies. Then I also took some freebies from Vitality and Royal. While busy roaming around the booth, they invited a special guest to sing us a song.
It's no other than Jaya! She sang Rolling in the Deep by Adele.
Each pack were supposed to send their representative to have their speech at the stage. Unfortunately, weather didn't cooperate with us. Instead of us humans and our furkids get sick, we decided to go home earlier than the expected time.
It's a great day for my husky as he met new friends. I hope there would be more events
