Mother of Vikings!

Happy Birthday Mama!

Happy 53rd Birthday to you Ma! Wishing you long life with less stress and full of happiness! I love you so much mama!!! Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!

Tito Winston and I were the first who greeted her at 12 midnight. I was already sleepy that time as I was tired from playing volleyball from HCHS. So I set my alarm clock 2 minutes before 12. Good thing I woke up from the alarm whew!

I thought we'll never get a table at Vikings. They just told me the plan of dining there a day before. Making a reservation a day before is almost impossible because they are always fully-booked. Glad that they still able to accommodate and save seats for us.Thank God! Thank you Vikings!

VIKINGS! A Feast From The Sea!

Hello again, Vikings! If you're going to ask me the number of times I ate here, too many that I lost count. Why? Because I used to work here for 3 months and one free meal per day in the buffet is one of my privileges. No wonder I had a hard time losing weights during those times. ^_^ I also spent my birthday last year here and this year's valentines with my date <3 <3 <3

My mom not only brought the whole family, but she also invited her closest friends too.

Anyways! I haven't made any reviews about it. And since my mom's planning to celebrate her birthday there, might as well make an entry. Here's a brief introduction about restaurant:

Vikings is a Luxury-Buffet Restaurant and one of the largest in the Philippines. Its first branch is in SM Mall of Asia and still growing. It has a capacity of 600 pax. Now, it has three more branches; SM Marikina, SM North Edsa The Block and SM Lanang Davao. I just don't know how many person can accomodate per branch. Its ambiance is like a restaurant of a 5 star hotel, but price is more affordable.
They also feature an open kitchen, one of their main attraction where you can see the chef make their mise-en-place and cook your food on the spot.

ACCESSIBILITY

What I like about Vikings is that all branches are accessible by LRT and a jeepney ride. And if you're going to travel by car, parking will not be an issue. MOA branch has its own parking lot. But since they are located in the busiest malls, heavy traffic is expected.

Reservation is also not easy as they are always jam-packed!(O.O), so reserve one week in advance just to get sure seats. And if you do, be sure to be there on time!

FOOD

Unless you have a wide storage in your tummy, I don't think that you'll be able to get a chance to taste all of them at one night as they feature massive, "as in MASSIVE!!!!!" variety of food from appetizer all the way to dessert! They serve different cuisines which include Japanese, Chinese, Western, Korean and etc.

Japanese

 Sushi Boat

 Plated Makis and Rolls
A large tuna display for sashimi. Besides the tuna is the salmon.
Of course, Japanese section will be incomplete without tempura in it. Though there's nothing left in the picture but vegetable tempura. They're still cooking a new batch of shrimp tempura that time.

Here's one of the open kitchen where they cook tempura. They have to cook them on the spot, because the crispiness of the tempura loses once get cold. You really have to fall in line for this one because one batch of cooked shrimp tempura easily runs out. But no worries, it will just take them a few minutes to cook it.

Oh yeah, the cooking station of tempura is located in the western kitchen separated to the Japanese section.

WESTERN and HOT SECTION

Carving Station
Except for the Crispy Baked Pork Belly, the lamb and beef are cooked on the spot with your choice of doneness. The Pork Belly is one of the sinful delights, better make sure to consume it in moderation.

If compared to a film, carving station is a blockbuster film. Look at the line!! But it's definitely worth the wait. Another open kitchen for you to see how your food is grilled to your preference of doneness.

*Note:They also served dishes such as beef bourginon and lengua on chafing dishes.

GRILL STATION

Beside the carving station is another open kitchen
called grill station
This is where they cook raw foods such as fish
of various kinds, squid, etc.

COLD

They serve two kinds of salad: First where salad is already mixed and made like waldorf and pasta salad. Second is a salad bar where you can make your own, just like Wendy's

And then there's bread and butter

Deviled Eggs and Canapes
Quesadillas with Cheese Sauce

Boursin served with flakes
Cold Cuts

I call this Rainbow Nachos. No need to explain right?
It is served with Chili con Carne and Cheese Sauce

CHINESE

Dimsum are my comfort food. I can eat a dozen siomai in just one seating

They serve 5 different kinds of dimsum a night.

Here you can make you own shabu-shabu, just choose the ingredients then they'll cook it for you with soup of  your choice as the base

Dessert

DESSERTS!!!!!! DESSERTS EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! WAAAAHHHHH!!!!! Their dessert station is quite overwhelming as they serve a lot of sweets and when I say lot....LOT!!!!!!!!!

Filipino Sweet Delicacies such as pichi-pichi, kutsinta, ube rolls and etc.

They even brought taho, bibngka, putobumbong and halo-halo inside

Desserts in shooters such as Panna Cotta, Mousse and Tiramisu Shots
Cakes such as red velvet

Ice Cream Station

Fondue

BEVERAGE

They also serve different types of beverages such as juices, sodas and teas with my favorite Strawberry lemonade. San Mig Beer is also included in the buffet!!!!!

Wine is not included in the buffet, These are ordered separately.

What's more, each branch serves a different kind of food that others don't. For example, SM Marikina Branch serves Korean food while MOA doesn't. Well, you really have to try every branch just to find out the difference huh!?

This is very worth it for buffet lovers. This is the time when I'm envious at people who eat a lot and yet they still don't get fat. Rate:10/10

AMBIENCE

Ambience is cozy but its elegance starts to fade away when it gets crowded. There's a minimal space in the buffet area so its impossible to get food without bumping each other, specially when most of the customers are in the area at the same time. I also had a hard time taking shots. Whew! I survived. Rating:6/10

AFFORDABILITY

 Rate:8/10

The rates is displayed at the reception. It's bigger than me so you won't missed it.

TRADEMARK

One of the trademark of Vikings and probably their best is their birthday promo. Free of charge for the birthday celebrant with one paying guest. You have to be present at your birthday itself. Just present a valid ID that indicates your birthday to avail the promo.
The guests were given a birthday cake
Plus serenading the birthday celebrant

OVERALL RATING: 9/10
