UECP Volleyball Ministry is a group whose members organizes a volleyball game in the Chinese community. Members are mostly from Hope Christian High School but they also invite people, alumni or students, from other schools as well. Their main purpose is to share the passion of playing the sport and socialization among us players. The venue of the game is at HCHS kinder garden gym every Sunday.
So how did I know about them? I started playing with them just a month ago. Lawrence Gopuansuy asked me last June 10 Monday if i'm still playing and if I could join them. Since I'm an addict at playing volleyball, how could I say no? So my first game was June 16 Sunday. Ever since then, I keep attending their game.
I didn't only get the chance to play volleyball, but also the chance to meet new set of friends. Though maybe some of them I already met during my varsity time, this was actually the only time that I got the chance to have a bond with them."Naging kakampi ko pa sa game" Before, competition was only in my mind as we are representing the school and winning is our main goal. But now, fun fun and more fun! Did I forgot to mention fun? ^_^
Every session, before we warmed ourselves up, we always start with a group discussion divided into two.
GIRLS
BOYS
Checking Attendance ^_^
That group discussion starts with a prayer, getting a line from the bible and sharing it to us and ask on how it applies in our daily lives, which is the best part for me as we get to know each other personally. Not only that, I can also learn from them on how to face such trials in a different way. All have different similarities; Aiming for the same goal but facing trial in a different way. Maybe what I'm doing is not effective, so I'm trying other's way. Because if I'm going to do the same thing, I'm just going to get the same results right? right! "ako din sumagot sa sarili kong tanong haha"
Mga members sila ng church so imagine isang katulad ko na balahura makikipaglaro sa kanila. Nobody knows how many times I scolded myself pag napapamura ako sa gitna ng court hahaha. Baka kasi ma-culture shock sila sa akin. I'm trying my best to keep myself from saying ng mga hindi kanais nais sa tainga ^_^ or minsan dinadaan ko sa palusot like "AY POK...(O.O)...Pokemon...pokemon pala" hehehe.
UECP
I became more aware and more curious of my surroundings ever since I started this blog. Maybe I was trying to think on what to put on my next entry. So I thought volleyball would be perfect. "But what would make this entry interesting?"I asked myself. Then a question bumped into my mind. What is UECP? I've been playing with them for a month and yet I didn't even know the acronym of the group. Then it followed by a few questions such as their main goal as individual, as a group, etc. I know volleyball is just one of their activities
Then after a few days, Mr. Bomping messaged me confirming about my group's attendance on Sunday. Since we're already chatting, might as well get the chance to interview him too.
Here's his answer "as a ministry or group, our goal is to use sports as an avenue to bring different people that in a normal situation would never have a chance to meet rather than if we play volleyball and bring a sense of fellowship to one another. To use volleyball as an avenue. to share life experiences. To share Ideas. To share Christ."
Then quoted again "As a member, personally my goal is to make new friends, to share passion for the sports. Alam mo iyon, hindi naman ako magaling. Hindi rin ako varsity and alam naman natin namahirap mag set-up ng volleyball games kasi not all courts have that option and medyo kaunti ang naglalaro. But I'm thankful na meron tayo nito and that I'm very happy I got to know all of you guys na hindi ko naman sana makikilala if not here."
Sharing is usually lead by Geran, Ben, Jon, Pau and David. They always bring their smart phones and Ipad with them pag nagdidiscuss haha natutuwa lang ako doon.
See what I mean?
I'll give an example of what they had discussed. I'll never forget the first topic. The title is "Jump". If I'm not mistaken, Mr. David Jonathan is the one who leads the discussion. It's about having self doubts and how we should cast these doubts away from us. Why jump? According to him, in the relation to volleyball, learning how to jump the right way is one of the crucial things. We don't know if we'll get it right the first time, the second time? or if we'll even get it right? Will we hurt ourselves at the process? Why did the coach ask us to do that in the first place? That's because he believes that we can do it. We just need to face our fears. Doubt hold us landlocked in paralysis unable to move either way.
That's one topic out of many. After sharing, we're closing it with a prayer.
Then warm up and stretching
Then volleyball ^_^
^_^ I didn't have a picture of my own because I'm the one who's taking pictures.
Hope tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang volleyball every Sunday. It was fun sharing and playing with you guys.
